WHO IS SAM?
WHO WE ARE
SAM: Securing Access to Mental Healthcare is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to equitable access to mental healthcare. The mission of SAM is to eliminate barriers to mental healthcare, ensuring everyone has equal access to support and healing.
WHAT WE DO
At SAM, we do a lot! Advocacy for vulnerable populations is at the core of everything that we do. Advocating for equitable mental healthcare isn't just part of our work. It is the driving force behind it. Our work includes direct care, community education, and advocating for systemic change. We provide individual clinical care, group support, and community resources alongside special programming, targeted research and community outreach.
WHY WE NEED IT
We need SAM because community-based nonprofits like SAM are able to reach, advocate for and serve people in ways that larger systems and government programs cannot. SAM can cover gaps in society and the health care system to get people and communities the help that they need when they need it most.

DEDICATED TO THE COMMUNITY
We provide individual and group therapy as well as resources and referrals for individuals and communities. We also have a gerontology department with clinicians that specialize in aging and palliative care. Aside from direct client care, SAM is fully dedicated to the community through important means like targeted research, advocacy and community education. If you or someone you know needs support, please contact us and one of our clinicians will get back to you. SAM is not for immediate crisis care. Please dial 9-11 for a mental health emergency or see our resources page for non emergency crisis and warm line numbers.
